Who am I?

Steve Jobs put it rather succinctly when he described people like me as ‘The round pegs in the square holes’. That’s what I am.

So, am I a misfit? No, I think not. But I do see things differently. I live life in an unfiltered version.

I think I am just someone trying to define her space in the world. I am just trying to live up to my philosophy – Make the most of life because it is an opportunity that knocks once.

What do I do? The interesting stuff…

Well, I am the founder of an HR consultancy. Yeah, I know … I know. Its boring! But, remember I told you – a round peg in a square hole?! So, anyway, this consultancy is my bread and butter (www.rianplacements.com) primarily because I need money to fund my other interests. And, by gosh, I have so many of those. I kid you not!

I love to write. I am a poet at heart. My first book (poetry), received an overwhelming response. The book is titled ‘islands in the stream’ and is available on Amazon.in. If you pick it up, don’t forget to leave a review. Muchas gracias, in advance.

I recently pitched my first novel and hope to see it in print soon. That’s been the dream, always … to be a published author. Yeah, I am a dreamer, for sure. Thankfully, that’s tax free. My work, so far, has found mention in several anthologies and literary platforms. Now dreaming brings me to my other love – travel. Oh yes, I am a hodophile! I love going off the beaten paths, exploring unchartered areas and partaking in roadside/stall food. You can read more about my travel experiences here –     https://onsonalstable.com/category/travel-leisure/

My love for travel has influenced my cooking. I love experimenting in my happy space, my kitchen (not always with happy results … but, hey, I try. That counts, doesn’t it?).  I get creative in the kitchen and also get most of my creative ideas for writing, in there. Go figure! There is one more thing that I am passionate about – animal rescue and rehabilitation. Apart from my beautiful daughters, I am also Mommy to an ageing dog, two rescued cats, an African Grey parrot, seven rescued Australian finches and an adopted English Budgie. Currently, this is the status quo but it changes like a math problem with additions and deletions, often!

Honestly, in the insane world of reality, my menagerie of non-humans keeps me centered and sane.

Have I achieved anything? Hmm, the boring stuff…

Well, I believe I am still muddling along, trying to make sense of directions. But, there are some who think I am better than what I believe myself to be. These kind people give me the faith that I am on the right path. These magnanimous people have said some rather complimentary things about me. So, what’s next in life? 

As I confessed, I am dreaming about publishing my novel. Hopefully, that dream will come to fruition this year. Lets not jinx that! I am also hopeful of publishing my second volume of poetry this year. Fingers crossed! Come back in a few months to check on progress. I know, I know, shamelessly schmoozing, aren’t I? But we self-flagellating wannabe authors learn to schmooze and beg pretty early on. Its what keeps the reviews coming.
