You use me, abuse me and cast me aside,
You kick me out or let me be a part of your life.
You seek comfort on my shoulder, when you cry,
You’ll see my tears too, if only you try.
You seek me out when you want your hand held,
You touch me when your need needs to weld.
You talk to me, when you want me to hear,
You could hear my unspoken plea, if only you were near.
You want me around, when you want things done,
At other times, you yell, to make me run.
You say some things that I would love to miss,
If you observed, you’d see my need for a kiss.
I was supposed to be irreplaceable to you, my dear,
After all I’m your soul mate, someone near.
But most of the times, I’m just like extra baggage,
To be tossed out, like garbage.
How I wish just once you would speak a word kind.
How I wish, just once I could be top of your mind.
That you could ask me, “So how was your day?
You could just once ask, “How are you today?”
