I lie in bed; I toss and turn; in my head a thousand thoughts churn.
I pull up the covers, I throw them off. I can hear my brain scoff.
I feel the cool night caress me, its coaxes, it entices but,
Stress prevails, tension impinges; sleep still eludes me.
Through the open window, where the curtain dances to the breeze;
I spy the milky orb. It hangs suspended in the empyrean garden.
“How calm & soothing it looks”, I wonder. “No stress it its world”.
Restless still, I turn and reach for the book on the nightstand.
“Perhaps a bout of reading will lull me to sleep”, I reason.
I turn the pages, attempt to read but thoughts breach the text.
Disgusted, miserable, vexed; I throw the book down in a rage.
I slump my head on the pillow, eyes staring ahead.
I blow a lock of stray hair away from my forehead.
Oh sleepless night! Leave me be. Let me get some rest.
My nights are merging into days; I’m unable to concentrate.
Help me God! For I suffer so. Gosh! Is it already the next date?
