Our footprints

In this transient world, our lives are like footprints in the sand

That are washed away, that vanish into the lap of the next wave.

In this world of impermanence, we struggle to steady our hand

We strive to accumulate, to amass more than what God gave.

But we forget that we live in a world that is always in a flux.

It is moved by an invisible hand that keeps us in motion.

Yes! This constant movement defines our lives, it is the Crux,

Just like the Earth that we call home does its solar rotation.

The earth answers to the call of her father, her mentor; the sun;

Same as we too answer to the call of an unseen force

That prods us on, that keeps egging us and keeps us on the run.

That force is from where we, our avarice do source.

So human’s let’s strive, all of us together, to leave a footprint

Let’s work, all of us together, to create a lasting imprint.

About Sonal Singh

An author, storyteller, and full-time observer of life’s glorious absurdities. I write humour-laced stories where chaos wears fluffy fur, emotions arrive uninvited, and middle-class Indian households become ecosystems of drama, love, and unsolicited advice. Armed with sarcasm, caffeine, and alarming emotional attachment to stray creatures, I believe compassion is less of a virtue and more of a lifestyle disorder. One that I embrace. When I’m not writing, I’m usually busy running a full-time HR consultancy business, rescuing animals, or trying to maintain dignity while being emotionally manipulated by my pets. Through my literary work, I try to blend humour with heart, celebrating the messy coexistence of humans and non-humans in modern urban India.
