Phuhaar, the drizzle is all that its title suggests – a gentle sparge on the senses, soaking us in love.

Neeru Agnihotri or Neer Agni her chosen moniker, writes with a depth of emotions.

Her poetry is neither lengthy, nor is it complicated (as sometimes poetry tends to be). No! Instead, it is introspective, at times philosophical and mostly thought provoking. It forces the reader to take a closer look at life, unravel its meaning and understand the onus of their actions. It makes a reader think, not just about the poem but also about the meaning of love and life. Is that not what most of us want from our reading, to be able to soak in the words and be left with a lingering impression?

Well, Phuhaar delivers on that front.

There are a few poems that spoke to me:

  1. Page 1 – I am a wild flower, take me anywhere and I will blossom.
  2. Page 4 – I went through miles of madness to find myself
  3. Page 12 – what a marvelous feeling it is to fall in love – more with yourself, less with the world.
  4. Page 16 – Dark stormy nights often bring up the most glorious sunshines.
  5. Page 22 –behind the doors, we are just a noise unheard
  6. Page 36 – I am not the victim of my circumstances, I am the survivor of my war inside.
  7. Page 64 – Sssshhhh say nothing, darling. Heart – to – heart, let our souls talk.
  8. Page 117 – the moment I found out that words have magic, I wrote my own destiny.
  9. Page 139 – Find me in the pauses between your heartbeats. I often come to rest there.
  10. Page 143 – I am at peace with my thoughts. I let them flow, they let me sleep.

My recommendation – If you are looking for a light book to pick up for a quiet evening and if you enjoy poetry, then do pick this one up. You are sure to be doused by the gentle sprinkle of emotions. It is a quick and easy read.

About Sonal Singh

An author, storyteller, and full-time observer of life’s glorious absurdities. I write humour-laced stories where chaos wears fluffy fur, emotions arrive uninvited, and middle-class Indian households become ecosystems of drama, love, and unsolicited advice. Armed with sarcasm, caffeine, and alarming emotional attachment to stray creatures, I believe compassion is less of a virtue and more of a lifestyle disorder. One that I embrace. When I’m not writing, I’m usually busy running a full-time HR consultancy business, rescuing animals, or trying to maintain dignity while being emotionally manipulated by my pets. Through my literary work, I try to blend humour with heart, celebrating the messy coexistence of humans and non-humans in modern urban India.
