Afar on the horizon the sun sinks
Low, hiding under the shadows of night,
Leaving behind hues of resplendence
That awaken a yearning, a longing.
Here I sit transfixed, gazing at the Vista;
At the beauteous visage of the sunset.
To me it seems like dreams woven in
Gold that glitter, enchant mesmerizingly.
Leaving this, I shift my vision to the bird
In the gilded cage, singing mellifluously
To serenade the night; then heralding
The day’s end, melancholy she sighs
Ending her song on a despondent note.
Roused my soul heeds the call of her heart
Setting her free, free from all that glitters.
