Farewell my mother

As I leave your bosom and embark on this journey

I know not if I shall return to your fold.

I know only that I leave one mother to go serve another,

That I leave to protect both you and her.

You birthed me mother; you gave me my first breath

But my nation gave me my identity, my respect.

I need to go now, need to rise to the occasion

For my country needs me, I need to protect my nation.

Should I come back mother know that I did succeed.

But should I fall in service, know that I did heed,

The call of my calling, the profession I swore to serve.

Know that I tried and from that I never once wavered.

About Sonal Singh

I believe that life is a repertoire of anecdotes. The various situations that we encounter, the many incidents of every day, the people we meet, our conversations with them; all make life a melange of tales. And, that is what I attempt to capture through my writing. My cooking is no different! It reflects my love for travel and my love for innovation. The kitchen is my happy place. So, even though by vocation I am a recruiter (www.rianplacements.com), by passion I am a writer, home chef and a hodophile.
